- The mission statement of Career Development Center is:
"To encourage independence and provide opportunities for people with disabilities that will enable them to live and work in the community and improve their quality of life."
Our goal at The Career Development Center is:
"To provide diagnostic services to individuals with disabilities, to obtain information for referrals and to aid in the Individual Rehabilitation Plan."Where Does The Money Come From?
What Does It Do For Fairfield and Wayne County?Monies are generated through production and grants; Department of Human Services, Department of Public Aid, Office of Rehabilitation Services, Wayne County 708 Board, and Edwards County Board. To qualify for grant funding, the agency has had to maintain accreditation by DHS, ORS, CARF, and the Department of Labor. Most of these monies are spent in Fairfield and Wayne County, thus adding to the local economy.
We contract with manufacturers to assemble and/or process various items. This arrangement is mutually beneficial to the community and the facility. Some local businesses employ some of our consumers. We also operate a resale shop. The monies generated go back into the work programs.
Who Runs The Center?
We are a non-profit organization, with a voluntary Board of Directors who receive no compensation for their services and are elected for a three (3) year term. They are responsible for establishing policies, providing a building and equipment and developing necessary financial support. The Board is responsible for hiring a Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for the management of the Center in accordance with established policies.
