Evaluation Services
The Evaluation Program is designed to assess the vocational and independent
living potential of disabled individuals.
Office of Rehabilitation Services, Department of Mental Health, or
community services generally refers these individuals to CDC. Assessments may consist of psychometric
testing, behavioral observation, work samples, and actual work performance. The
basis of the systematic evaluation is the McCarron-Dial Work Evaluation System,
which provides predictive measures of cognitive, sensory, motor, emotional, and
interest inventories. After a complete evaluation, the individual is referred
to a program at CDC or community employment.
Regular Work
The Regular Work Program provides employment for individuals who, due to their
disability, cannot obtain competitive employment. The program also serves individuals
who have developed requisite skills to work in the community and are currently
looking for or are awaiting an appropriate job match. An individual with
community job placement as a vocational goal continues to work on his/her
productivity and behavior goals in order to maintain or enhance their placement
potential.
Vocational Development
The Vocational Development Program prepares an individual for his/her optimum
level of vocational and social functioning by providing a training program. It
is directed toward developing positive attitudes, self-confidence, physical and
emotional stamina, while assisting in the understanding of the meaning and
value of work.
